STL [NSE: STLTECH], one of the industry’s leading digital network integrators, announced today that all of its fiber and cable facilities in India and Italy have announced Zero Waste to Landfill (ZWL). Prior to 2020, STL became the world’s first fiber and cable manufacturer to obtain ZWL certification for its Indian facilities in Maharashtra, India. Since then, the company has improved its waste discharge rate and extended these best practices to the rest of India’s facilities and the optical cable and interconnection facilities in Italy. This makes STL optical solutions one of the most sustainable in India and Europe.

The STL ZWL approach includes various industry-first initiatives such as LSZH (Low-Smoke-Zero-Halogen) co-processing of fiber optic cables and waste, treatment of chemical by-products for industrial applications, and precise water management. STL has also switched to sustainable packaging called SURE (Sustainable, User Friendly, Reliable and Efficient) to reduce overall carbon dioxide emissions over the fiber life cycle. Commenting on this achievement, Akanksha Sharma, Global Head ESG, STL, said: “As a world leader in optical technology with customers in more than 100 countries, effective and efficient waste management is our top priority.
