Vandals use .22 rifle to shoot up Tuscola County fiber-optic lines, cause $50,000 in damage

Investigators with the Tuscola County Sheriff's Office are searching for the person or persons who damaged fiber optic lines by shooting at them with a suspected .22 rifle, causing an estimated $50,000 in damage.

Investigators with the Tuscola County Sheriff's Office are searching for the person or persons who damaged fiber optic lines by shooting at them with a suspected .22 rifle, causing an estimated $50,000 in damage.

According to a post on social media Friday, Thumb Electric Company reported damage to three storage loops of their fiber optic cable located on electrical poles on Riley Road near English Road in Wells and Kingston townships.

The storage loops were shot multiple times by a suspected .22 rifle. The damage is estimated to be about $50,000.
