NJFX confirmed that Canadian telecommunications company Eastlink has deployed its fiber optic network ring in its NJFX Cable Landing Station (CLS) campus.
With this expansion, NJFX is now a strategic location on the Eastlink fiber optic ring, which connects New Jersey and the New York City metropolitan area with Toronto and Montreal. As a result, this new location creates significant network diversity and greater flexibility for business and mission-critical organizations such as the financial, government, education, corporate, retail, and healthcare sectors.
Felix Seda, General Manager of NJFX, said: "A key reason for NJFX was to support more diversity and high-quality routing to support the global network architecture."
"Our CLS campus has more than 30 operators and 4 submarine cables. Any organization that relies on high-capacity bandwidth has unlimited possible routes."
Therefore, NJFX and Eastlink customers can also reach the Eastern Destination and Point of Presence (PoP) in Stamford, Connecticut; Boston, Massachusetts; Portland, Maine; and enter Atlantic Canada, where they can visit the GTT cable landing station .
In addition, customers can also connect to key network routes from NJFX to the Caribbean and South America.
"Eastlink is very pleased to expand our network to NJFX's strong telecommunications ecosystem," added Steve Irvine, senior vice president of engineering and CTO of Eastlink.
"This will provide diversified routes to major destinations such as Ashburn, Virginia, while avoiding the crowded New York metropolitan area."
In addition, NJFX’s new Eastlink PoP will create more submarine cable system options, including connections to Gemini Bermuda Consortium (CBUS-1) and Eastern Caribbean Fiber Optic System (ECFS) systems, which provide access to Bermuda and the British Virgin Islands And the English-speaking West Indies of Saint Kitts, Antigua, Saint Lucia, Barbados, Saint Vincent, Grenada and Trinidad.
In related news, in September, Lightpath Fiber Networks added dual entry points, dual electronic devices, and enhanced backhaul options to increase its influence in NJFX.
