Equinix, a global digital infrastructure company, and Crosslake Fibre, a leading network service provider, announced that a new international fiber optic cable project, CrossChannel Fibre, will connect to Equinix data centers in London and Paris. The new system will be delivered by Crosslake Fiber to Equinix's International Business Exchange (IBX) data centers-LD4 in London and PA7 in Paris, through the landing points in Brighton and Veules-les-Roses. CrossChannel Fiber will be the first submarine optical fiber project to be laid across the English Channel in nearly 20 years and will be put into use in the fourth quarter of 2021.

The 520-kilometer building constructed by Crosslake Fiber and terminated at the Equinix data center has 96 pairs of fibers. Each pair of fibers will be able to provide more than 20 TB of data. The new network will be the fiber optic network with the lowest latency between London and Paris. This project marks the second collaboration between Crosslake Fiber and Equinix, the first being a connection between Toronto and Secaucus, New Jersey.
